Where did all the happiness in the world go? I see my surroundings in black and white and I have forgotten what the color red looks like. My feet trudge forward, towards an unclear destination as the snow continues to fall.
My brother used to tell me stories about the most extraordinary things. Stories of men who breathed fire and girls who could walk on water.
How could such things co exist with the mundanity that I felt? My feet trudge forward, towards an unclear destination as the snow continues to fall.
My feet stop. For in front of me is a girl. Her hair is a mess but that didn’t matter to me. I could see the colour red.
I had forgotten its intensity. Like a beacon in the middle of the blizzard, it burns, not only through the storm, but my heart.
She beckons to me. Calling me. Whispering my name with same gentle caress of that of a lover. I remember the stories my brother told me and I smile.
My feet trudge forward, towards a clear destination as the snow continues to fall.
